Cool Places Around The Web

Friends’ Websites

Beatrice Cook’s Cool-Type Land – The website and portfolio by my good friend (and Rowan’s wife) Beatrice, who is trying to get into the animation business. She is extremely talented and her art makes me feel like a child wrapped in a blanket watching cartoons again.

Mahou Queen – the kawaii/lolita blog of my good friend Anthea. Her blog is adorable and so is she. Nothing but good vibes and good looks here.

Rowan’s Website – A website by my old friend Rowan, exploring a plethora of interests and talents. Rowan is a free spirit whose interests change with the day, and her website shows that! It is itself, a project of love, and so may be under construction for some time to come.

HostSet – A semi-abandoned project of mine and my sister’s (but mostly hers), this wiki catalogues the characters and locations of a fanstory that has evolved so much from the source material that it could probably stand as original fiction if we bothered to sand off the barcodes. This wiki is a drop in the ocean of a massive creative project that spanned our entire adolescence, but this is the only digital part of it. We haven’t gotten around to scanning the thousands of pages of comics we drew for it, and probably never will.

Cloudhiker – A fun way to find new and interesting websites! Cloudhiker allows you to press a button and instantly be taken to a random website that has passed their submission process. This really feels like how it was to surf the old web. Not all of the websites are Old Web, but plenty of them are, and lots of the new websites are super fun, too!

Sources of Inspiration

Springhole – Anyone who has ever written should give this website a look. It has been guiding me on my quest of cringe and creation since I was a wee middleschooler. The iconic Mary Sue Litmus Test in particular has informed my writing style, but everything on here is gold.

Donjon – A collection of generators geared toward fantasy and rpg creation. I keep finding my way back to this site for various things. Its calendar generator has been especially useful in world building for rp’s in past years.
